Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.

I get into Bitcoin in 2012. I mined, I bought, now I earn BTC and I live on BTC. I get into this because I believe that BTC will be the real P2P money, not controlled by banksters or govs, but by the people. But if we let the greedy miners to act like financial institutions and govs and approve or not the txs this will destrot a big dream and Bitcoin will became just a history.
Today the world need Bitcoin to be the salvation not just another “asset” for speculation.

+ PROS: It is decentralized P2P electronic money and I hope will remain like that
    - CONS: Option to be hijacked by miners that select in their own interest (greed) who can have or not approved his transaction.

First and wildly used cryptocurrency. Not really decentrolized as not all of us have the money to buy some OP machine to mine the coins so the network becomes dependent on the miners, who can do what ever they wish to since they are the ones controlling the network not the other people who just use wallet and to have transactions.

It is more like an investment than an universal Internet crypto currency (at least thats how I see the bitcoin). Fees are really high sometimes when the network is crowded it can cost like 5$ to send 10$ in 24hours time which can never work as a currency. This is how I see the bitcoin.

All in all first “giant” that will stay and live in the game.

+ PROS: Wildly accepted, can be nice investment if you know the markets well
    - CONS: fees are expensive (block time 10mins with 1mb max block limit). Proof of Work - costly. Slow confirmation time.
